I recently had the pleasure of attending the Integrative and Personalised Medicine Congress in London, where for the third year running I ran a workshop on spirituality and healthcare along with two colleages, Dr Matt Hawker and Su Mason. The three of us were delighted that, once again, many health professionals attended our workshop and it felt the enthusiasm for including spiritual care as part of a whole person approach took another leap forward this year.
Whilst at the the congress, I attended the one other session on spirituality, a panel discussion involving four doctors - Bringing Spirituality into Healthcare: Fostering Compassion, Purpose, and Healing for All. It was a most beautiful session, the energy of the room palpable, as all four doctors spoke from the heart revealing their personal stories of spiritual connection and how they came to realise its importance in healing. One of those doctors was the wonderful Rosemary Nyabadza and, like the rest of the audience, I was transfixed as she shared her journey of challenges, growth and revelations. I knew this is a story you would want to hear and so was thrilled when she agreed to chat with me for the podcast.
You'll have to forgive my very distracting glasses in this recording, I am still very new to this process of recording videos and have much to learn! But hopefully the blue reflections won't take away from Rosemary's open-hearted sharings and so enjoy watching and please pass on to any others who may benefit.
