Sometimes we find those things that ignite deep passion within us early in life, other times they come later. Sometimes when we discover those things we realise we have been searching for them a long time without knowing and that they fulfill a yearning that runs deep.

Having grown up in the landlocked state of Iowa in the US, yoga teacher, writer, wellbeing coach and heart advocate, Vishwam Gurudas Heckert, didn't see the sea until he was 20 years old when he arrived in Scotland for his studies, it was a powerful moment for him. A few decades on and he finds himself living on the Shetland Isles close to and surrounded by sea and this 'ocean of love' is an important source of joy and inspiration for him.

Vishwam has been on quite a journey of healing throughout his life, with childhood challenges meaning he sometimes felt far from the waves of nourishment and love he now enjoys, but his life lessons allow him to bring a wealth of wisdom and sense of moral justice to his current work, and his story, which you can hear in a recently recorded interview (below), is heartwarming. One of Vishwam's most important teachers has been Rev Padma Devi, who is also a source of great inspiration to me, so please check out the website of her charity, Heart of Living Yoga, as well as that of Vishwam's Flowing with Life organisation below. I hope you enjoy watching.
