An
Audience
With...

An important part of the mission of the Awakening Heart Collective is to provide the heart with a platform to speak. We need to hear its vital message at this time more than any other. An increasing number of individuals are being called to work with the heart and are using their voice to share its teachings with the world. We hope to bring attention to these individuals through our offerings, one of them being our Audience With events.

On a regular basis we will be hosting live online events where we invite a notable Heart Advocate to speak about their learnings and experiences of the heart and share the insights they believe the heart has for us at this special time in history. We aim to keep these events as low cost as possible, if not free of charge, to maximise accessibility to all.

Convergence of Science and Art in Heart Medicine

Dr Boon Lim, Consultant Cardiologist & Honorary Senior Lecturer at Imperial College, London

4th December 2024, 7-8.30pm. Online via Zoom

In this session Boon will candidly speak about his journey as a heart doctor which started out in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, and which led him to Cambridge University to study medicine on scholarship, before becoming consultant cardiologist at Imperial College London. He will share the inspirational moments and synchronicities that led him to view the heart from a broader perspective and which allowed him to see that a patient-centered approach that engages with, and serves the heart on a deeper level is fundamental for true healing to occur.

Boon has a strong interest in heart rate variability and breathwork techniques and during this session will demonstrate how such techniques can support us in our day to day lives by bringing us into a

heart-centered healing space.

There will be plenty of time for audience questions towards the end of the session.

About Boon Lim

Dr. Boon Lim is a highly regarded Consultant Cardiologist with a specialist interest in clinical electrophysiology based at Imperial College and Hammersmith Hospital in London. His dedication to patient education and support is evident through his authorship of "Keeping your heart healthy," a Penguin life expert book and his charitable website www.StopFainting.com, aimed at helping patients better understand fainting episodes and providing guidance on how to improve their condition.

Recognized as a Top Doctor of the year for three consecutive years by his medical peers, Boon has established himself as a leader in the field. His strong interest in the autonomic nervous system's role in heart health led him to pursue a PhD at Imperial College London, conducting research on this topic and contributing to the medical literature with over 100 peer-reviewed publications, including articles related to heart rate variability.

In his day-to-day clinical practice, Boon specializes in cardiac arrhythmias and autonomic nervous disorders such as syncope, postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome, and long COVID. He has observed that a holistic approach to patient care leads to the most significant and sustainable improvements in the health and well-being of his patients and his comprehensive and patient-centered approach sets him apart as a compassionate and forward-thinking medical professional in the field of cardiology.

Beyond his clinical practice, Boon has diversified his skills by training as a Tai-Chi instructor, and in recent years, as a HeartMath coach.
